An improved torque density Modulated Pole Machine for low speed high torque applications

6th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2012), 2012
This paper presents a new topology for three-phase Modulated Pole Machines. This new topology the “Combined Phase Modulated Pole Machine” is analysed and compared to the more traditional technology of three separate single phase units stacked axially with a separation between phases.

Segmented exterior-rotor PMSM for increased torque density

2023 13th International Electric Drives Production Conference (EDPC), 2023
Embedded permanent magnets are widely used for electrical machines with interior-rotor. This provides better protection of the magnets and enables the use of an additional reluctance torque for torque density improvements. For external rotors, the use of surface-mounted permanent magnets is common.

Determination of tidal torques independently of densities

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1986
The components of the tidal torques along the axes of the inertia ellipsoid of a perfectly elastic Earth have been derived quite independently of the density distribution of masses within the Earth. It has been demonstrated that not only the sectorial, but also the tesseral terms in the tidal forming potential are responsible for the tidal deceleration

Realization of High Torque Density Encoderless Servo Drive System

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
This paper proposes an encoderless servo drive system including high torque density servomotor capable of handling large load, and high response and high accuracy saliency based sensorless drive technology. As an encoderless servomotor, the spoke type Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) that is used for a general purpose servomotor is ...

Maximum-torque-per-ampere control of high torque-density multiphase drives based on induction motors

2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012
It is known that the torque density of multiphase motors can be increased by superimposing high-order spatial harmonics to the fundamental one in the air-gap magnetic field. However, the problem of maximizing the torque capability is still controversial, since the results depend on the constraints that have been considered.

High Power/Torque-Density Devices

2020
Mechanical power transmission and handling devices are evaluated according to their power density, or else their torque density if it is not the power that is the issue of primary concern. The combination of high power or torque density with good energy efficiency may collectively be termed high-performance density.

A magnetic gearbox with an active region torque density of 239Nm/L

2014 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2014
In this paper, a 1:4.25 ratio ferrite magnet and Nd-Fe-B magnet flux-focusing magnetic gearbox with a high pole count is analyzed. A simple parameter sweep analysis is used to show that higher than previously published torque density values are achievable.

Relationship of extremity muscle torque and bone mineral density in postmenopausal women

Maturitas, 1990
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlations between the torque of four extremity muscle groups and the bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine and hip in postmenopausal women. Fifty-six postmenopausal women (means age = 55.4 years, s = 7.1; means height = 162.6 cm, s = 6.4; means weight = 65.9 kg, s = 9.3) served as subjects.

Comparative Analysis of High Torque Density PM Machines

2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018
High torque density PM machines have attracted more and more attention recently, especially for the low-speed, high-torque application. In this paper, three high torque density PM machines are analyzed and compared, namely 12-slot/10-pole SPM, 16-pole transverse flux PM and 12-slot/22-pole flux modulation PM machines, with the specification of 30 kNm ...

A Rotationally Asymmetric Reluctance Machine With Improved Torque Density

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2013
Reluctance machines (RM) have desirable features including low rotor and no-load rotational losses. In this paper, a new type of RM is introduced, namely the asymmetrical RM. This machine has higher torque density than a conventional RM and is useful in situations where low rotor and no-load rotational losses are desirable.
