Spin Transport at Interfaces with Spin-Orbit Coupling: Phenomenology

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents the boundary conditions needed for drift-diffusion models to treat interfaces with spin-orbit coupling. Using these boundary conditions for heavy metal/ferromagnet bilayers, solutions of the drift-diffusion equations agree with ...

Assembly of Cell‐Seeded 3D Printed Hydrogel Modules with Perfusable Channel Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Macroscale assembly was utilized to prepare perfusable tissue constructs from individually 3D printed hydrogel modules with embedded branched channel networks and port arrays for cell seeding. Novel multi‐material bioreactors were fabricated to facilitate the gluing of individual modules and the perfusion culture of assembled modular constructs seeded ...

Electrostatic Patch Effect in Cylindrical Geometry. III. Torques

open access: yes, 2010
We continue to study the effect of uneven voltage distribution on two close cylindrical conductors with parallel axes started in our papers [1] and [2], now to find the electrostatic torques.

3D‐Printed Hygroscopic Polymer Networks for High‐Humidity Triboelectric Nanogenerators to Wirelessly Power Implantable Electronic Devices‐ A Conceptual Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work develops 3D‐printable tribopolymer networks that can enhance triboelectric performance under high humidity environments. Polar hydrophilic functional groups and incorporation of zwitterionic monomers promote bound‐water–dominated interfacial polarization thereby increasing electrical outputs.

Recent developments in planet migration theory

open access: yes, 2012
Planetary migration is the process by which a forming planet undergoes a drift of its semi-major axis caused by the tidal interaction with its parent protoplanetary disc.

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

Method for Particle Size Control During the Drying and Granulation in Fluidized Bed [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The fluidized bed process presented in this paper is suitable for recovery of solids from solutions in the form of granules. The solution is sprayed into the bed and as solvent evaporates, solid material is deposited on the surface of fluidizing ...

Quantum Dynamics of a Nanomagnet driven by Spin-Polarized Current

open access: yes, 2011
A quantum theory of magnetization dynamics of a nanomagnet as a sequence of scatterings of each electron spin with the macrospin state of the magnetization results in each encounter a probability distribution of the magnetization recoil state associated ...

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...
