Torque vectoring based drive assistance system for turning an electric narrow tilting vehicle [PDF]
The increasing number of cars leads to traffic congestion and limits parking issue in urban area. The narrow tilting vehicles therefore can potentially become the next generation of city cars due to its narrow width.

Novel Insights into Conformational Rearrangements of the Bacterial Flagellar Switch Complex
The flagellar motor can spin in both counterclockwise (CCW) and clockwise (CW) directions. The flagellar motor consists of a rotor and multiple stator units, which act as a proton channel.

Design of a torque generating mechanism
The design and assembly of a mechanism to bend schedule 80 stainless steel pipe up to 1 ½ in nominal diameter is presented. The use of a relatively small hydraulic actuator, coupled with a toothed wheel to produce the bending torque, is a novel approach to the process.

Flagella-Driven Motility of Bacteria
The bacterial flagellum is a helical filamentous organelle responsible for motility. In bacterial species possessing flagella at the cell exterior, the long helical flagellar filament acts as a molecular screw to generate thrust.

Reversal and Termination of Current-Induced Domain Wall Motion via Magnonic Spin-Transfer Torque [PDF]
We investigate the domain wall dynamics of a ferromagnetic wire under the combined influence of a spin-polarized current and magnonic spin-transfer torque generated by an external field, taking also into account Rashba spin-orbit coupling interactions ...

High-Torque Oscillating Wind Energy Generator
Abstract This research investigates a novel concept in small-scale wind-energy generation. Instead of rotating turbine blades, the present concept produces reciprocating motion that is achieved by alternately activating boundary layer control (slot blowing) on opposite sides of a circular cylinder.

The biophysicist’s guide to the bacterial flagellar motor
The bacterial flagellar motor (BFM) is a rotary electric nanomachine that drives swimming in a wide variety of bacterial species. There have been many milestones, both theoretical and experimental, that have furthered our understanding of this tiny motor

A computational model of torque generation: neural, contractile, metabolic and musculoskeletal components. [PDF]
The pathway of voluntary joint torque production includes motor neuron recruitment and rate-coding, sarcolemmal depolarization and calcium release by the sarcoplasmic reticulum, force generation by motor proteins within skeletal muscle, and force ...
