Motor 'identity'-a motor model for torque analysis and control

Proceedings of 1995 International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems. PEDS 95, 1996
This paper introduces a novel concept in torque analysis and torque controller design, using motor identity. The concept of identity is defined and analysis for generating an optimal input current which can produce smooth and maximum torque output is described. The extraction process of identity from a motor is also provided.

Theory of Hysteresis-Motor Torque

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1940
THE object of this study is the development of a quantitative theory of hysteresis-motor torque, especially in relation to magnetic properties and dimensions. The theory is interpreted physically in an idealized case, and applied to a particular motor to verify the result experimentally.

Single-Phase Motor-Torque Pulsations

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1924
This article gives results of a study of the vibrations of small single-phase induction motors, with a view to determining their causes and eliminating the noise which they produce. The possible sources of such vibrations were analyzed, and an experimental study was made in which the principal cause was definitely determined to be the double-frequency ...

Use of a Torque Motor as a Tachometer

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1977
Circuitry is described whereby an Aeroflex linear torque motor, used to deliver precise torque waveforms in the study of primate motor control, can be used as its own tachometer. This circuitry allows manipulanda using this type of motor to be made smaller, and with less moment of inertia, than would be possible with the installation of a separate ...

Restoration of Torque in Defective Flagellar Motors

Science, 1988
Paralyzed motors of motA and motB point and deletion mutants of Escherichia coli were repaired by synthesis of wild-type protein. As found earlier with a point mutant of motB , torque was restored in a series of equally spaced steps. The size of

Torque maximization for permanent magnet synchronous motors

1997 European Control Conference (ECC), 1997
The paper discusses the problem of maximizing the torque of permanent magnet synchronous motors in the presence of voltage and current constraints. Formulas are given that are suitable to operation with voltage and current source inverters and to real-time computation.

Synchronous Torques in Split Phase Induction Motors

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
This paper addresses the causes of synchronous torques in split-phase induction motors. First, an analytical model is outlined to describe the processes involved in producing synchronous torques. This involves the consideration of the motor MMFs interacting with the slot permeances. The results from the implementation of the model are given for several

Soft Starting of Induction Motor with Torque Control

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
This paper presents a simple technique based on stator flux estimation to control the electromagnetic torque of the induction motor during soft starting. The inherent problems related to pure integration of the back electromagnetic force to estimate the stator flux are minimized using the low pass filter approach.

Automatic Torque Controller for Torque Motors

Journal of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, 1952
The use of the automatic torque controller permits the full advantages of torque motors to be realized for film take-up and holdback duty without being handicapped by their inherent limitations when operated in the conventional manner.

Torque control of electric motors without using torque sensor

2007 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2007
Accurate torque control of a brushless motor requires the motor's torque characteristics, which can be captured by a periodic function in motor angle. This paper presents a direct adaptive controller for torque control of brushless motors, which estimates the Fourier coefficients of the periodic function based on the measurements of motor phase voltage
