Autocompensation of torque ripple of direct drive motor by torque observer
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1993Since a direct drive motor (DDM) does not require a reduction gear, the drive system can be made simple, and therefore it is used in high-precision robot and machine tool applications. However, without reduction gear, a disturbance torque is directly reflected to the motor shaft, and a torque ripple generated by the motor is directly transmitted to the

Embedded Joint Torque Sensor with Reduced Torque Ripple of Harmonic Drive
2013Joint torque sensors are widely used in service robots for force control and collision detection. However, since torque sensors are often directly connected to a harmonic drive, it must be insensitive to torque ripple, the noise from the harmonic drive due to its unique structure.

Direct Torque Control of induction motor with reduction of torque ripple
2000 26th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 2000. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation. 21st Century Technologies and Industrial Opportunities (Cat. No.00CH37141), 2002It is widely known that Direct Torque Control (DTC) has fast dynamic torque response. It originates in the fact that torque and flux is directly controlled by instantaneous space voltage vector unlike Field Oriented Control (FOC). For the reason, Direct Torque Control gradually has been used in the field requiring fast response since its introduction ...

Suppressing Pulsating Torques: Torque Ripple Control for Synchronous Motors
IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2014This article proposes a novel control technique for suppressing pulsating torques in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) and synchronous reluctance motors (Syn-RMs). This torque-control system is based on instantaneous torque estimation with a rigorous analytical model that can account for spatial harmonics.

Torque ripple reduction in a PMSM driven by direct torque control
2008 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2008Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are extensively used in high-performance industrial applications. The electromagnetic torque in a PMSM is proportional to the angle between the stator and rotor flux linkages. Therefore, high dynamic response can be achieved by means of direct torque control (DTC).

Reconfigurable Direct Torque and Flux Control with Torque Ripple Reduction
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2011Abstract This work presents a reconfigurable direct torque and flux control strategy which guarantees good performance in presence of faults in the actuator, the voltage source inverter. It is based on a new quantification of the stator flux vector position means a new definition of sectors on the ab-plane.

Torque Ripple Verification in PM Machines
EUROCON 2005 - The International Conference on "Computer as a Tool", 2005In this paper, the problem of the ripple torque experienced with permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) is discussed and solved by adopting advanced simulation tools. The two pulsating torque components are identified: the cogging (detent) torque and the slot harmonics caused ripple.

Torque ripple minimization in direct torque control of induction machines
38th IAS Annual Meeting on Conference Record of the Industry Applications Conference, 2003., 2004A duty ratio control scheme for inverter-fed induction machines using the direct torque control (DTC) method is presented. An improved steady state torque response was achieved using the duty ratio control and had shown less torque ripple compared to the conventional DTC.

Autonomous torque ripple compensation of DD motor by torque observer
Proceedings 1993 Asia-Pacific Workshop on Advances in Motion Control, 2002From a standpoint of effective torque transmission, the direct drive motor (DDM) is advantageous over conventional AC servomotors because it does not require a reduction gear. The paper presents autonomous torque ripple compensation of the DDM with a permanent magnet rotor by using a software-implemented torque observer.

Torque Ripple Reduction for Step Motors
2003In this chapter, we present controllers that reduce torque ripple for different types of stepper motors. The pulsating torque developed when a stepper motor is full- or half-stepped is known as the torque ripple and is the main cause of exciting resonance in the motor.
