Pedaling torque reconstruction for half pedaling sensor

2013 European Control Conference (ECC), 2013
Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPACs) have been gaining increasing attention worldwide during the past few years. Market analysis show that cyclists prefer torque assisted EPACs over velocity-based ones. A torque assisted cycle requires an estimate or measurement of the cyclist torque, which increases the cost and complexity of the set-up.

Measurements of Engine Torque with the Intra-Bearing Torque Sensor

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A miniature noncontact torque sensor has been developed to be mounted on an engine for use in engine control systems. The sensor is installed in a last main bearing of the engine crankshaft. The principle is based on the measurement of torque-induced change in magnetic properties of a crankshaft due to the magneto ...

Robust Load-Torque Estimation for DC Motor without Torque Sensor

2019 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT), 2019
External load-torque estimation for electrical motor is important in order to improve control performance as well as obtaining information about interaction with the environment. This paper presents a performance and robustness comparison among three different types of algorithms for the estimation of the external load-torque for low-power DC motors ...

Optical fibre Bragg sensor torque transducer

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
The benefits of an Optical Torque Transducer (OTT) based on optical fibre Bragg sensors for applications in any environment prone to electro-magnetic and temperature influences are outlined. By using an optical Rotation Coupler (RC) the transducer avoids slip rings or telemetry systems.

Wireless Magneto-Elastic Torque Sensor System

52nd Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 2014
It is highly desirable for torque measurement systems to meet certain demands such as being non-contact and passive to the shaft, compact and easy to install, accurate, sensitive and cost effective. Other critical factors include the ability to provide real-time measurements and minimal signal conditioning requirements.

Torque sensor employing a mechanical resonator

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1997
Abstract The paper reports on the development of a novel sensor which combines a triple-beam metallic resonator (TBTF) and a torsion bar. The torque sensor has a frequency output and its fabrication and associated electronics are relatively simple and inexpensive. The sensor has a range of 12 N m, with a sensitivity of 125 Hz (N m)−1.

Torque sensor using amorphous magnetostrictive ribbons

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1994
Abstract A torque sensor using amorphous magnetostrictive ribbons was developed. An inaccuracy of less than 1% in the temperature range − 10 to 50 °C was achieved by controlling the bias compressive stress of glued amorphous ribbons, which is induced by the difference between the thermal expansion of the shaft and the glued amorphous ribbons during ...

Force-torque sensor

2009
The sensor has an optical fiber (3) arranged between a part (1) and another part, where the optical fiber comprises a detecting unit (5) for detecting deformations and/or tensions of the optical fiber transverse to longitudinal axis. A section is mechanically connected with the parts in such a manner that forces or moments in the section of the optical
