Quantification of condition indicator performance on a split torque gearbox

Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2009
The requirement for higher energy density transmissions (lower weight) in helicopters has led to the development of the split torque gearbox (STG) to replace the traditional planetary gearbox by the drive train designer. This may pose a challenge for the current gear analysis methods used in health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS).

Stored Torque Torsional Split Hopkinson Bar Apparatus

Journal of Aerospace Sciences and Technologies, 2023
Torsional Split Hopkinson Bar (TSHB) apparatus is extensively used for obtaining shear response of the materials in the strain rate range of 102 s-1 to 104 s-1. Even though the stored torque TSHB is widely used, its design and development technique is not readily available.

Synchronous Torques in Split Phase Induction Motors

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
This paper addresses the causes of synchronous torques in split-phase induction motors. First, an analytical model is outlined to describe the processes involved in producing synchronous torques. This involves the consideration of the motor MMFs interacting with the slot permeances. The results from the implementation of the model are given for several

Electronically Controlled Torque Split System, for 4WD Vehicles

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1986
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The 4WD system is ultimately believed to be the best system for every situation. However, it does not display satisfactory cornering performance when the vehicle is being accelerated.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Recognising this fact, we analyzed the influence of the 4WD fore/aft torque split ...

Electronic differential for electric vehicle with evenly split torque

2016 IEEE International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (PEMC), 2016
In this paper, an electronic differential is introduced for an electric vehicle (EV) with rear wheel drive and two electric motors. The proposed architecture consists of driving the two motors by simple motor torque controllers, through splitting the torque equally for each motor. The principle is similar to that of a mechanical differential.

Split Torque Helicopter Transmissions with Widely Separated Engines

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 1989
A three-stage helicopter transmission of split torque type is shown to offer advances in a configuration that allows the engine axes to be widely separated and parallel. Three variants of the configuration are examined; one design with separated drive paths and four final-drive pinions is discussed in detail.
