Aripiprazole overdose in Hong Kong: A 10‐year retrospective cohort

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 32, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Introduction Aripiprazole is considered to have a favourable safety profile in overdose, with low risks of cardiovascular and neurological toxicity. However, local data are limited, and the impact of co‐ingestants remains insufficiently studied.

Acquired Long QT Syndrome and Torsades de Pointes after Mitral Valve Replacement Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Arrhythmias, 2021
Acquired long QT syndrome (aLQTS) can occur in up to one third of patients undergoing cardiac surgery and is often undisclosed. We present a case of a 55-year-old male patient admitted to our center for mitral valve replacement surgery, and, during the ...

Identifying Pediatric Drug Safety Knowledge Gaps: An Integrated Approach Leveraging Real‐World Data, a Biomedical Knowledge Base, and Postmarketing Surveillance Data

open access: yesPharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, Volume 45, Issue 10, Page 667-676, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Drug safety has historically been understudied in pediatric populations, rendering them “therapeutic orphans.” Pediatric drug indications and dosages are often inferred by extrapolating safety, efficacy, and dosing data from adult studies, leading to widespread off‐label use.

Torsade de Pointes and Persistent QTc Prolongation after Intravenous Amiodarone

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2012
We report a case of torsade de pointes after intravenous amiodarone and concurrent hypokalemia. Despite treatment cessation and correction of electrolyte abnormalities, excessive QTc prolongation was noted, which persisted for 14 days.

No Evidence of QTc Interval Prolongation With Baxdrostat Treatment: Concentration–QTc Modeling Assessment

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 13, Issue 5, October 2025.
We present concentration‐QTc modeling analyses from two phase 1 studies of the novel, highly selective aldosterone synthase inhibitor, baxdrostat. The assessments presented here confirm the lack of QT‐interval prolongation risk with baxdrostat at therapeutic and supra‐therapeutic concentrations. ABSTRACT Baxdrostat is a novel, highly potent, selective,

The impact of plasma glucose decline rate on cardiac repolarisation in individuals with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 10, Page 5587-5598, October 2025.
Abstract Aims To investigate whether plasma glucose decline rates influence cardiac repolarisation, transmural dispersion and counterregulatory hormones in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) with and without good glycaemic control. Materials and Methods In a randomised crossover study, 20 young men with T1D (10 well‐regulated (HbA1c ≤53 mmol/mol ...

Clarithromycin-Induced Long QT Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2012
Long QT syndrome develops for a number of reasons. The number of non-antiarrhythmic drugs reported to induce QT interval prolongation with or without torsade de pointes continues to increase.

A Cardiac Magnetic Resonance–Based Risk Stratification for Life‐Threatening Ventricular Tachyarrhythmias in Heart Failure: The SNE2 Score

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 38, Issue 9, September 2025.
The presence of LGE, syncope, and nonsustained ventricular tachycardia were identified as risk markers of LTVTA. A total score of ≥ 3 was considered high risk. The novel scoring model may assist in the preliminary screening of patients with symptomatic heart failure with a potentially elevated risk. ABSTRACT Risk stratification for sudden cardiac death
