Testicular torsion in vivo models: Mechanisms and treatments

Andrology, 2023
AbstractBackgroundTesticular torsion is a condition in which a testis rotates around its longitudinal axis and twists the spermatic cord. This in turn results in a significant decrease in blood flow and perfusion of testicular tissue. During Testicular torsion, the testicular tissue is affected by ischemia, heat stress, hypoxia, and oxidative and ...

Mechanisms of Injury in Unilateral Testis Torsion

European Urology, 1986
We investigated the mechanisms of injury involved in unilateral testis torsion as well as the interventional effects of orchiectomy at 48 h and immunosuppression with corticosteroids in rats. Torsion was associated with abnormal contralateral testis histology and raised antilymphocytes and antisperm antibody titers.

Micro-Mechanical Measurement of the Torsional Modulus of DNA

Genetica, 1999
The torsional modulus C of DNA is determined from the difference between the work of stretching a single overwound molecule and the work done in stretching one underwound by the same number of turns. The value obtained C/kBT = 86 +/- 10 nm is within the range (75 +/- 25 nm) estimated by more indirect methods.
