Twisting of a Pristine α-Fe Nanowire: From Wild Dislocation Avalanches to Mild Local Amorphization

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
The torsion of pristine α-Fe nanowires was studied by molecular dynamics simulations. Torsion-induced plastic deformation in pristine nanowires is divided into two regimes.

The role of thiol–disulfide and ischemia-modified albumin in the differential diagnosis of ovarian pathologies in children

open access: yesJournal of Nature and Science of Medicine, 2020
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between ovarian pathologies and oxidative stress in children via the new method of thiol/disulfide homeostasis.

Fracture strength of monocrystalline and polycrystalline ceramic brackets during archwire torque

open access: yesRevista de Odontologia da UNESP, 2019
Introduction In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for esthetic treatments, especially among orthodontic patients. Objective This study determined the fracture strength of monocrystalline and polycrystalline ceramic brackets of different ...

Spectral Torsion

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics
Abstract We introduce a trilinear functional of differential one-forms for a finitely summable regular spectral triple with a noncommutative residue. We demonstrate that for a canonical spectral triple over a closed spin manifold it recovers the torsion of the linear connection.

Splenorenal Collaterals as Hallmark for a Twisted Wandering Spleen in a 14-Year-Old Girl with Abdominal Pain: A Case Report

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pediatric Surgery Reports, 2014
Wandering spleen is a rare cause of acute or chronic recurrent abdominal pain with a risk of splenic torsion and infarction. We describe a case of a 14-year-old girl with chronic recurrent abdominal pain with a palpable spleen in normal position on the ...

Torsion Motives

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2023
Abstract In this paper, we study Chow motives whose identity map is killed by a natural number. Examples of such objects were constructed by Gorchinskiy and Orlov [ 10]. We introduce various invariants of torsion motives, in particular, the $p$-level.

The Finite Elements Research for Calculation of Thin-Walled Bar Systems [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2012
This article is written to continue the article of recent issue of the journal (Lalin V.V., Rybakov V.A. The finite elements for design of building walling made of thin-walled beams) considered the creating of 4 types of finite elements – depending on a ...

The analytic torsion of a disc [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Global Analysis and Geometry, 2011
We study the Reidemeister torsion and the analytic torsion of the $m$ dimensional disc in the Euclidean $m$ dimensional space, using the base for the homology defined by Ray and Singer in \cite{RS}. We prove that the Reidemeister torsion coincides with a power of the volume of the disc.

Discrete torsion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2003
In this article we explain discrete torsion. Put simply, discrete torsion is the choice of orbifold group action on the B field. We derive the classification H^2(G, U(1)), we derive the twisted sector phases appearing in string loop partition functions, we derive M.
