Spontaneous Uterine Leiomyoma Torsion: A Challenging Differential Diagnosis for Radiologists

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Case Reports in Internal Medicine, 2020
Uterine leiomyomas are very common gynaecological benign tumours. Spontaneous torsion of a uterine subserosal leiomyoma is a rare cause of acute lower abdominal pain and should be treated immediately with surgery.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Study on initial fatigue damage of magnesium alloy under torsion and bending

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Torsion and bending fatigue tests of magnesium alloy AZ31were carried out to investigate the initial damage under high cycle fatigue. The crystallographic orientation of crystals in which slip lines were occurred was analyzed by using electron back ...

Propagating torsion in the Einstein frame

open access: yes, 2006
The Einstein-Cartan-Saa theory of torsion modifies the spacetime volume element so that it is compatible with the connection. The condition of connection compatibility gives constraints on torsion, which are also necessary for the consistence of torsion,

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Non-zero torsion and late cosmology

open access: yes, 2020
In this work, we study some thermodynamical aspects associated with torsion in a flat FLRW spacetime cosmic evolution. By implementing two Ansatze for the torsion term, we find that the model admits a phantom regime or a quintessence behavior.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Case Report: Adolescent epididymal cysts: three management approaches including a rare synchronous epididymal cyst and testicular torsion

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery
IntroductionEpididymal cysts are common benign lesions that typically present as painless scrotal masses. They predominantly occur in adult males but can also be found in adolescents, albeit with a higher likelihood of being overlooked at this age.

Analytic Torsion of Z_2-graded Elliptic Complexes

open access: yes, 2010
We define analytic torsion of Z_2-graded elliptic complexes as an element in the graded determinant line of the cohomology of the complex, generalizing most of the variants of Ray-Singer analytic torsion in the literature.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
