Impact of Torsional and Bending Inertia on Root Canal Instruments

The laws of applied mechanics can be used to analyze and predict the behavior of mechanical parts subjected to strain and distortion, such as endodontic instruments. Simple mathematical formulas can be used to represent the impact of torsional and bending inertias on stresses in endodontic instruments being used in root canals.

Impact Response of Torsionally Coupled Base-isolated Structures

The seismic response of a single-story asymmetric structure supported on various base isolation systems during impact with adjacent structures is investigated. Eccentricities arising due to elastic forces in the columns at the top-deck and the restoring forces in the isolation systems at the base-raft are considered.

To examine the effect of the torsional constraints imposed on DNA substrates on Cas9 cleavage, we prepared constrained DNA substrates using a DNA origami frame. By fixing the dsDNA at the connectors of the DNA frame, we created torsionally constrained or relaxed substrates.
