Damping Torsional Oscillations Using Thyristor Controlled Braking Resistors

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2001
This paper presents a new method for controlling a dynamic braking resistor in power system. It allows a Thyristor Controlled Braking Resistor (TCBR) to effectively damp inertial and torsional oscillations in a large turbo-generator.

Real‐World Patterns of Botulinum Toxin Treatment in Hyperkinetic Movement Disorders: A 9‐Year Nationwide Analysis in France

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hyperkinetic movement disorders, including dystonia, tremor, and myoclonus, are disabling conditions often managed with botulinum toxin type A (BoNT‐A). Real‐world evidence on treatment patterns remains limited. Objective This nationwide, population‐based study aimed to evaluate trends in BoNT‐A use in France between 2015 and 2023 ...

Driving Cerebellar Theta Oscillations Interferes With Voluntary Neck Movements in Cervical Dystonia

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cervical dystonia (CD) is a movement disorder with a complex pathophysiology, including cerebellar abnormalities. Transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), a noninvasive neuromodulation technique capable of entraining brain oscillations, can transiently modulate neuronal activity and enhance resonant rhythms.

Constraining the Nuclear Equation of State of a Neutron Star via High-frequency Quasi-periodic Oscillation in Short Gamma-Ray Bursts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The determination of the equation of state (EOS) of a neutron star (NS) and its maximum mass is very important for understanding the formation and properties of NSs under extreme conditions, but they remain open questions. Short-duration gamma-ray bursts

Analysis of Mechanical‐Electrical‐Hydraulic Coupled Vibration Response Characteristics of Thermal Control Circulating Pumps Supported by Water‐Lubricated Bearings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The operational reliability of thermal control circulation pumps is significantly restricted by the multi‐physics coupled environment. To reveal the vibration transmission mechanisms and dynamic response characteristics under multi‐field coupled excitations, a multi‐DOF coupled dynamic representation of the overall system, incorporating the ...

An Approach for Computationally Efficient Yet Accurate Modeling of Vibrating Machines With Neidhart Springs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate modeling of vibrating machines equipped with Neidhart springs is challenging due to the strong nonlinearities introduced by the elastomer–metal torsional elements and the constraints imposed by their kinematic arrangement. Multibody modeling methodologies for such vibrating machines are often computationally demanding, thus limiting ...

Oxidative Stability and Rheological Features in Recycled Composites Based on Postconsumer Polypropylene and Antioxidant‐Loaded Silicas

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Role of antioxidant supported on MCM‐41 and nano‐silica in enhancing oxidation induction time (OIT) and nucleation performance. ABSTRACT Plastic recycling efforts are hindered by the reduction of material properties in recyclates stemming from oxidative degradation of their polymeric chains.
