Dynamic Behavior of Shafts, Couplings and Working Body of the Machine under Torsional Impact Moment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics
In this study, the influence of the torsional rigidity of the connected shafts, couplings and the working body of the machine, as well as the damping capacity of the coupling, on the torsional impact moment generated in the machine transmission is ...

An Analysis of Traction Drive Torsional Stiffness [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanisms, Transmissions, and Automation in Design, 1985
An analysis of the tangential compliance of elastic bodies in concentrated contact is applied to traction drive elements to determine their torsional stiffness. Both static loading and rotating conditions are considered. The effects of several design variables are shown. The theoretical torsional stiffness of a fixed ratio multiroller traction drive is

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Contribution of Torsional Vibration Modes and the Influence on Period Ratios in the Seismic Response of Elastic Plate Bent Frame Structures

open access: yesBuildings
The structural characteristics of large-span structures inherently differ from those of conventional multistorey structures, making it challenging to accurately describe the contribution of various vibration modes to the overall response using ...

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

The stress distribution in the joints of vehicles chassis frames subject to torsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The problem of warping inhibition in the joints, of commercial vehicle chassis frames is very important for the estimation. of stress distribution in the joints and the overall torsional stiffness of frames.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

A Prosthetic Shank With Adaptable Torsion Stiffness and Foot Alignment [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2020
Torsion adapters in lower limb prostheses aim to increase comfort, mobility and health of users by allowing rotation in the transversal plane. A preliminary study with two transtibial amputees indicated correlations between torsional stiffness and foot alignment to increase comfort and stability of the user depending on the gait situation and velocity.
