A torsional vibrations problem
Electrical Engineering, 1958TORSIONAL vibration studies of simple mechanical systems are usually handled by methods which, while not difficult, often require the expenditure of considerable time when done by hand. The use of a digital computer shortens the time considerably. One method frequently used is the Holzer table calculations resulting in the determination of the natural ...

The Measurement of Torsional Vibrations
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1942An electromagnetic torsional vibration pick-up unit, developed at Sunbury in the Research Laboratories of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company is described, the output being shown on the screen of a cathode ray oscillograph to which the unit is connected through an integrating amplifier.

Torsional vibrations of quartz crystal beams
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1996An exact solution of a partial differential equation including elastic compliance constant s'/sub 56/, with respect to stress function /spl psi/ has been found for torsional modes of vibration of an arbitrary (singly, doubly, triply) rotated beam with a pair of parallel, free edges.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
The disclosure illustrates a tuned viscous torsional vibration damper having a hub member for attachment to an internal combustion engine crankshaft. An annular inertia mass is journaled within the hub member to form a working chamber which contains a viscous liquid to damp out torsional oscillations of the inertia member relative to the hub.

Torsional Vibration Modes of Tapered Bars
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1952Abstract The author offers a solution for the differential equation which governs the torsional vibration modes of a shaft or bar, these modes being simple harmonic functions of time.

On the Torsional Vibrations of Long Chain Molecules
Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section B, 1952Simplified models are discussed for long chain molecules in which all units are equal except for one which is heavier than the others. Certain general conclusions are reached for the vibrations of such molecules. The results will be applied to the out-of-plane or torsional vibrations of long chain ketones in a following paper.

Torsional Vibrations of Elastic Prolate Spheroids
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1968Frequency equations and mode shapes are presented in analytic form for the torsional vibrations of solid prolate spheroids and thick prolate spheroidal shells. The solutions are shown to include the previously obtained solid sphere and thin prolate spheroidal shell results as limiting cases. Numerical results are presented for solid prolate spheroids.
