Characteristics of Torsional Vibrations of a Shaft System with Parallel Misalignment

A coupling can transfer the torque from one shaft to another through deforming itself. If parallel misalignment exists, the couplings will produce an extra deformation besides the deformation produced by transferring the torque.

However, field experience indicates the presence of torsional effects in the form of modulations in longitudinal vibrations.
