Comparing the Body Water Distribution in Obese and Normal Weight Adolescent Boys via Segmental Multi-Frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2015
Background: Body water is the highest fractional content of body weight, except in cases of extreme obesity. The objective of the present study was to compare and evaluate the changes in total body water (TBW), and body water distribution using segmental

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift

A Comparison of Total Body Water Analyses: Bioelectric Impedance Analysis Versus the Tritiated Water Method

open access: yes, 1999
Bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) is used to measure the body composition and total body water of normal subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine if the hydration of patients with burns could be assessed by BIA.

Pain and Patient‐Reported Physical Function Did Not Differ Among Body Composition Profiles in Patients With Hip Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To explore whether higher body fat and lower lean mass are associated with greater pain and worse patient‐reported physical function in individuals with hip osteoarthritis (OA). A secondary aim was to examine whether pain and patient‐reported physical function differ according to four body composition profiles: high body fat, low lean mass ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
