Total cavopulmonary connections in children with a previous Norwood procedure

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2001
Outcomes of the Fontan operation in children initially palliated with the modified Norwood procedure are incompletely defined. From August 1993 to January 2000, 45 patients (mean age 2.6 +/- 1.1 years, weight 12.7 +/- 2.8 kg) who were palliated with staged Norwood procedures (hypoplastic left heart syndrome, n = 32; nonhypoplastic left heart syndrome, n

Total cavopulmonary connection with straight conduit for apicocaval juxtaposition

General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2009
If the heart is malpositioned with apicocaval juxtaposition (ACJ), what constitutes the ideal course for the conduit pathway of a total cavopulmonary connection must be considered. When the conduit is positioned between the inferior vena cava and the same side of the pulmonary artery behind the ventricle, potential stenosis of the conduit due to ...

Loss of Sinus Rhythm After Total Cavopulmonary Connection

Circulation, 1995
Background Total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) to repair functional single ventricle involves the sinus node area, in contrast to the Fontan procedure. We compared ECG findings after TCPC and Fontan to evaluate the impact of the cavopulmonary connection on sinus rhythm postoperatively ...

[A case report of total cavopulmonary connection following total cavopulmonary shunt].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 1997
A 20-year-old man underwent total cavopulmonary shunt for univentricular heart type A (A.L.L.) with hemiazygos connection six years ago. Four years later, his condition deteriorated with easy fatigue and cyanosis. Cardiac catheterization showed recanalization of ligated SVC. Chest CT showed tight adhesion between the chest wall and the ascending aorta.

In vitro quantitative study of the total cavopulmonary connection

Proceedings of the 22nd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (Cat. No.00CH37143), 2002
The total cavopulmonary bypass (TCPC) is a surgical intervention which attempts to provide a satisfactory pulmonary blood flow when the right heart can not sustain it, due to congenital or acquired diseases. In a TCPC, the venae cavae are anastomosed to the pulmonary arteries, with a typical hemodynamics. The authors' study is aimed at the quantitative

Hemodynamics of the Total Cavopulmonary Connection: An In-Vitro Study

Advances in Bioengineering, 1996
Abstract Total cavopulmonary (CP) connection has been developed to treat hearts with essentially a single ventricular chamber[1]. In a typical CP connection, the superiour vena cava (SVC) and inferior vena cava (IVC) are connected directly to the right pulmonary artery (RPA).

[A modified technique in total cavopulmonary connection].

[Zasshi] [Journal]. Nihon Kyobu Geka Gakkai, 1992
We have used an alternative technique in Total Cavopulmonary Connection without using any prosthetic material. The technique is a modification of Senning operation in which a flap of right atrial wall is used to create a tunnel between inferior vena cava and superior vena cava.

Cardiopulmonary exercise performance after total cavopulmonary connection with or without prior superior cavopulmonary connection.

Journal of cardiac surgery, 2014
To compare cardiopulmonary exercise capacity of patients undergoing primary total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) with those undergoing TCPC after a prior bidirectional Glenn (BDG).Out of 42 patients in this study, 24 had undergone primary TCPC while 18 had undergone staged TCPC.
