Electron Scattering from Sevoflurane

open access: yesAtoms
Various electron impact scattering cross sections of Sevoflurane are reported up to 5 keV. The elastic cross sections (differential and integral) are computed using the single-centre-expansion formalism within a molecular framework.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Impact of using different ozone cross sections on ozone profile retrievals from Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME) ultraviolet measurements [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2007
We investigate the effect of using three different cross section data sets on ozone profile retrievals from Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME) ultraviolet measurements (289–307 nm, 326–337 nm).

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Energy dependence of nucleon-nucleon inelastic total cross-sections

open access: yes, 1987
Total inelastic pp cross-sections are reconstructed for laboratory kinetic energies ranging from 0.3 to 400 GeV. They are obtained by fitting together the sum of total cross-sections for exclusive inelastic channels, the sum of topological cross-sections

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Charm total cross sections with nonuniversal fragmentation treatment

open access: yes
Total charm-pair cross sections in $pp$ collisions are interesting because they can be calculated to NNLO in QCD without any reference to fragmentation effects.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
