Anomalous nighttime increases in total electron content
Planetary and Space Science, 1970Abstract A study of anomalous nighttime increases in total electron content at Hawaii from September 1964 to September 1968 shows that the typical increase lasts from 2 to 4 hr, has a mean size of 6 × 1016electrons/m2, and peaks during 2100–2200 HST and 0100–0200 HST.

Total electron content structure in the Middle East
Radio Science, 1982Polarization rotation data recorded from the geostationary satellite SIRIO at Haifa, Israel, have been used to study the structure and variability of the total electron content (TEC) during the maximum phase of the current solar cycle. In addition to the overall diurnal and seasonal variation, the TEC is regularly modulated by the effects of traveling ...

Variability in ionospheric total electron content at Mars
Planetary and Space Science, 2013Abstract The Mars Express (MEX) mission includes a multi-purpose radio instrument called the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionospheric Sounding (MARSIS). When used in its ionospheric-penetrating subsurface sounder (SS) radar mode, a by-product of the MARSIS observations is the ray-path-integral of electron densities, called the total ...

The global ionospheric asymmetry in total electron content
Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2005Abstract We use the NASA-JPL global ionospheric maps of total electron content (TEC), obtained from observations of GPS satellite signals, to construct average noon TEC maps for one-month periods centered on the June and December solstices of 2002.

Empirical modeling of the total electron content in the ionosphere
Cosmic Research, 2012A method of modeling the total electron content (TEC) based on the semi-empirical ionospheric model developed in Irkutsk State University is suggested. Comparison with the Klobuchar model has shown that the proposed method provides a more accurate presentation of TEC. A conclusion is drawn that the use of this method for compensation of the ionospheric

Adaptive model for total electron content in the ionosphere
SPIE Proceedings, 2002Adaptive regional total electron content space distribution model, based on the data of the IGS (International GPS Service for Geophysics) international network of GPS- stations is proposed in the article. The method of the spherical harmonic analysis with the selection of the spectrum of approximating harmonic with the greatest contribution was ...
