Total Electron Content measurements with uncertainty estimate
2012 6th ESA Workshop on Satellite Navigation Technologies (Navitec 2012) & European Workshop on GNSS Signals and Signal Processing, 2012High-accuracy Total Electron Content (TEC) measurements are important for several applications, including GNSS time transfer with accuracies better than 10 ns. In addition, it is important to provide uncertainty estimates to algorithms that use the TEC measurements.

The total columnar electron content of the equatorial ionosphere
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1967Abstract The Faraday rotation technique is applied to study the features of the variations of the total columnar electron content at an equatorial station. Absence of a noon bite-out and the occurrence of a maximum near 1430 L.M.T. are some of the regular characteristics of the diurnal variation.

Total Electron Content Studies in Equatorial Regions
Radio Science, 1970This paper reviews current knowledge of the diurnal variation and spatial distribution of total electron content in the equatorial ionosphere. The problems of data reduction peculiar to stations near the equator are considered. There is a large diurnal variation up to 40∶1 that is greatest at the equinoxes and least in local winter.
