From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Sizing passive filters for mitigation of harmonics in a low voltage network containing solar PV units

open access: yesFranklin Open
The continual growth of renewables in the distribution scale is converting the conventional arrangement of power grid into a modern arrangement in which the Distribution Generation (DG) units are included within the distribution section of any power ...

Machine‐Learning Decomposition Identifies a Big Two Structure in Human Personality with Distinct Neurocognitive Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using machine learning on a mega‐scale global dataset (n = 1,336,840) reveals a robust personality trait architecture beyond the Big Five. A Big Two model, broadly capturing social engagement and internal mentation, defines a geometric space that links personality to neurocognitive profiles.

Resonance-Aware Power Factor Correction in Transmission Networks Using Weighted Indices and Tuned Passive Filters for Harmonic Mitigation

open access: yesEnergies
Power factor correction in transmission networks with nonlinear loads cannot be addressed solely from the viewpoint of reactive compensation because harmonic distortion and resonance may compromise the expected technical benefits.

Electronic Structure Reorganization in MPS3 via d‐Shell‐Selective Alkali Metal Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Alkali metal doping of layered MPS3 antiferromagnets reveals d‐shell‐selective responses. While MnPS3 resists charge transfer due to its half‐filled 3d5 shell, FePS3 and NiPS3 behave similarly to CoPS3 by accommodating extra d‐electrons. Yet only CoPS3, with its least stable d‐shell, undergoes pronounced band restructuring and a semiconducting‐to ...

MITIGATION OF HARMONIC DISTORTION USING OPTIMUM PHASE-SHIFT MULTIPLE PARALLEL INVERTERS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2018
It is clear that the harmonics in power systems have many negative impacts and therefore it is inevitable to reduce their amount to the accepted level and one of the interesting approach to reduce the harmonic distortion is to synchronize phase-shifted ...

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Reveal Cell‐Type‐Specific Immune Regulatory Networks in Maize Responding to Southern Corn Rust

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating single‐nuclei and spatial transcriptomics, this study presents a stereoscopic landscape of maize leaf to Puccinia polysora infection. Epidermal and mesophyll cells initiate primary defenses via RLPs/RLKs and jasmonic acid signaling. Cell‐cell communication analyses further reveal the underlying the dynamics of the underlying immune ...

Conformable Microelectrode Arrays Integrated with a Scoop‐Shaped Slide‐Well for Dynamic Electrophysiological Profiling of Patient‐Derived Cardiac Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible, ultrathin multi‐channel microelectrode array (MEA) conformally integrated onto a curved slide‐well enables stable electrical interfacing with 3D cardiac organoids. The geometry‐guided self‐alignment allows simultaneous recording of extracellular field potentials and contractile motion from irregular, beating tissues.

Impacts of Nonlinear Loads on the Power Quality of Solar Microgrids and Proposed Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
The integration of solar energy into microgrids poses significant challenges in maintaining power quality due to the variable nature of solar generation and the presence of nonlinear loads such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), variable frequency ...
