Reduction of line-current total harmonic distortion (THD) of a Valley Fill electronic ballast
2011 International Conference on Electronic Devices, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA), 2011This paper presents a modified Valley-Fill (VF) ballast circuit to combine with a current fed resonant inverter as the power circuit for a high power factor VF electronic ballast. The original VF circuit permit input current conduction from 30° to 150°, and then from 210° to 330°.

A Cost Effective Method of Reducing Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in Single-Phase Boost Rectifier
2007 7th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2007Due to its simplicity, the discontinuous conduction mode boost rectifier is potentially the least expensive active line-harmonics reducing circuit. The line current however, shows considerable distortion when the peak input voltage is close to the output voltage. This paper proposes a simple, low-cost method to reduce the line harmonics.
