Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2016
A method was developed to determine the aromatic hydrocarbon to total hydrocarbon ratio of mineral oil in commercial lubricants; a survey was also conducted of commercial lubricants. Hydrocarbons in lubricants were separated from the matrix components of lubricants using a silica gel solid phase extraction (SPE) column.

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2019
A laboratory-scale study was conducted to investigate the effect of bioaugmentation (BA) and biostimulation (BS) on the remediation of oily sludge with high total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) content (269,000 mg/kg d.w. sludge). TPH concentration significantly decreased by 30.4% (P

Total Oxidation of Hydrocarbons on Perovskite Oxides
Catalysis Reviews, 1992Abstract Perovskite-type oxides containing transition metals are attracting great attention as catalysts for complete oxidation of hydrocarbons as well as electrochemical reduction of oxygen (1). A s far as I know, the use of perovskite-type oxides as catalysts was first reported by Meadowcroft in 1970 (2) for the electrochemical reduction of oxygen ...

Regulatory Guidelines for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contamination
2019The contamination of land with total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs) is a serious environmental and development issue in many nations. If managed well, it can be an opportunity for urban renewal and development. However, if not managed or remediated, it can pose deleterious effects on public health and the environment. Fortunately, industrialized nations

Cyclic Conjugation in Total Resonant Sextet Benzenoid Hydrocarbons
Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds, 2000Abstract The energy-effect (ef) of the cyclic conjugation in individual hexagons was calculated for a number of total resonant sextet benzenoid hydrocarbons, with emphasis on the recently synthesized very large members of this class. The Clar picture (large ef in “full” hexagons and small ef in “empty” hexagons) is found to be obeyed without exception.

Rapid Field Analytical Methods for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
SPE Asia Pacific Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Responsibility Conference, 2017Abstract Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) in soil is often measured to determine if soils have been impacted by crude oil. PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) operates several oil fields in Sumatra and samples soil for TPH content for remediation-related work. Traditional laboratory methods used to analyze for TPH in soil require three

Measuring The Total Hydrocarbons in Diesel Exhaust
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1967<div class="htmlview paragraph">In order to simulate diesel exhaust of known composition, weighed amounts of various high-boiling hydrocarbons were evaporated into a stream of heated air. These mixtures were sampled continuously and the hydrocarbon contents measured with a heated flame ionization detector (FID).

The Catalytic Total Oxidation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Topics in Catalysis, 2009Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), which have serious health problems associated with their emission into the atmosphere. Catalytic oxidation is an effective abatement process to control PAH emissions, and the types of catalysts investigated have been reviewed.

Biodegradation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons from Oily Sludge
Bioremediation Journal, 2011ABSTRACT The present study concerns the biotreatment of oily sludge of petroleum refineries. Experiments were performed to assess the degradation potential of the microbial species present in the oily sludge through augmentation, and using the augmented microbial inoculums to treat oily sludge in a slurry form containing mineral medium and water.
