The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2006Background: National and regional arthroplasty registries have been used to study the results of primary total knee arthroplasties. The purpose of this paper was to present the results of revision total knee replacements and describe predictors of survival of those replacements, with repeat revision as the end point.

Noncemented Total Knee Arthroplasty
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1986Extensive animal experimentation has proven porous titanium fiber composite to be an effective interface for direct attachment of prosthetic devices via bone ingrowth. Titanium has demonstrated excellent biocompatibility in long-term primate experiments. Utilizing this technology, a cementless total knee system has been developed.

In a series of 77 ICLH knee arthroplasties there were 12 bilateral cases which had a prior patellar resurfacing on one side and a patelloplasty on the other.

Total knee arthroplasty in nonagenarians
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2002Between 1976 and 1999, 3714 consecutive primary total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) were done at our institution. Of these, 20 (0.54%) TKAs were done in 18 patients who were > or =90 years old. The average follow-up period was 62.2 months. There was 1 postoperative death among the nonagenarians within 90 days of surgery.

Anametric Total Knee Arthroplasty
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1982SUMMARY Thirty-six anametric knee arthroplasties were performed in 31 patients and followed for at least one year. Twenty-six had a diagnosis of osteoarthritis, four had a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and one had lupus osteonecrosis. There were significant improvements in the pain, walking, and function ratings.

Total Knee Arthroplasty in Osteonecrosis
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1991Thirty-eight total knee arthroplasties in 36 patients were studied at 4 +/- 2 (mean, +/- SD) years follow-up evaluation. The Hospital for Special Surgery knee score improved from 59 +/- 9 (mean, +/- SD) before surgery to 83 +/- 11 (mean, +/- SD) (p less than 0.0001) at last evaluation. Good or excellent results were achieved in 87%.
