Shuffled total least squares

open access: yes, 2022
Linear regression with shuffled labels and with a noisy latent design matrix arises in many correspondence recovery problems. We propose a total least-squares approach to the problem of estimating the underlying true permutation and provide an upper bound to the normalized Procrustes quadratic loss of the estimator.

Implicit iterative algorithm for solving regularized total least squares problems [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2022
The article considers a new iterative algorithm for solving total least squares problems. A new version of the implicit method of simple iterations based on singular value decomposition is proposed for solving a biased normal system of algebraic ...

Total Least Squares Registration of 3D Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2013
Co-registration of point clouds of partially scanned objects is the first step of the 3D modeling workflow. The aim of coregistration is to merge the overlapping point clouds by estimating the spatial transformation parameters.

Orthogonal Projection and Total Least Squares [PDF]

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 1993
AbstractOverdetermined linear systems often arise in applications such as signal processing and modern communication. When the overdetermined system of linear equations AX ≈︁ B has no solution, compatibility may be restored by an orthogonal projection method. The idea is to determine an orthogonal projection matrix P by some method M such that [Ã B̃] =

Testing straightness of line objects using total least squares [PDF]

open access: yesTehnika, 2017
The paper presents the adaptation (fitting) of a set of points, with an estimated two-dimensional positions, to the straight line model of the by the application of the Weighted Total Least Squares, WTLS.

Regularization by Truncated Total Least Squares [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 1997
The truncated total least squares (TLS) technique is investigated. It filters the solution by truncating the small singular values of the TLS matrix. The given iterative algorithm for computing the truncated TLS solution bases on Lanczos bidiagonalization. The algorithm is efficient when the number of retained singular values is small compared with the

Comparison between total least squares and ordinary least squares in obtaining the linear relationship between stable water isotopes

open access: yesGeoscience Letters, 2022
The linear relationship between two stable water isotopes (δD and δ18O) has been used to examine the physical processes and movements or changes of three water phases (water vapor, liquid water and ice), including deuterium excess.

Tikhonov Regularization and Total Least Squares [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1999
The regularized total least squares (TLS) method of the TLS problem is introduced and its regularizing properties are studied. It is also proved that, in certain cases, the new method is superior to standard regularization methods.

Total Least Squares Method for Direction of Arrival Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2019
In the Time Difference of Arrival(TDOA) positioning technology, when the position coordinates of the sensor have errors, the estimated value obtained by the Least Squares(LS) method no longer has the best unbiasedness, resulting in a decrease in the ...

Total Least Squares Spline Approximation

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
Spline approximation, using both values y i and x i as observations, is of vital importance for engineering geodesy, e.g., for approximation of profiles measured with terrestrial laser scanners, because it enables the consideration of
