Abstract An overview of the forms of phosphorus species likely to be encountered in natural waters and the implications for the measurement of filterable and total phosphorus is given. Procedures reported in the literature for the storage and digestion of water samples for filterable reactive phosphorus (FRP), total filterable phosphorus (TFP) and ...

The use ofp-methylaminophenol sulphate (metol) at 100‡ for the reduction of phosphomolybdic acid in the determination of phosphate in sea-water has a number of advantages over stannous chloride. The molybdenum blue colour once formed, is stable for several hours, and the calibration curve is not dependent upon the batches of reagent used; Beer's law is

Automated determination of total phosphorus in aqueous samples
Talanta, 1991The determination of total phosphorus in an automated microbatch analyzer system is described. The procedure combines persulfate digestion of the sample and colorimetric detection of orthophosphate by the ascorbic acid reduction of phosphomolybdate in a single processing chamber.

Total phosphorus, phytate-phosphorus and phytase activity in plant feedstuffs
Animal Feed Science and Technology, 1994Abstract A total of 285 samples representing 51 feedstuffs used in Belgian feed-mills were quantitatively analysed for phytase activity, phytate-P and total P. It was concluded that the number of feedstuffs showing significant phytase activity (more than 100 units kg−1) is rather limited (n = 13).
