Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Mechanized and irrigated coffee cultivation promotes physical subsurface constraints in Oxisols [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo
Soils of the Cerrados (Brazilian Savanna) are deep, well-structured, and well-drained, with flat to gently undulating terrain that favors mechanization for coffee cultivation. However, these soils are susceptible to compaction. This study aimed to assess

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Impact of Poultry Manure and NPK Fertilizer On Soil Physical Properties and Growth and Yield of Carrot

open access: yesJournal of Horticultural Research, 2017
A field experiment was conducted in the forest-savanna transition zone of Nigeria from May to July 2014 and September to November 2015 to determine the impacts of poultry manure (PM) and NPK fertilizer on soil physical properties, and growth and yield of

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Alterações de alguns atributos físicos e das frações húmicas de um Nitossolo vermelho na sucessão milheto-soja em sistema plantio direto Changes in some physical properties and in humic fractions of a Nitosol cropped with a millet - soybean succession under no-tillage

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2008
No Estado de São Paulo, restrições do regime de chuvas no período de outono-inverno e temperaturas elevadas limitam a produção e a manutenção de cobertura no solo, tornando importante estudar alternativas para a implantação eficaz do Sistema Plantio ...

Porosity and Water Saturation Estimation for Shale Reservoirs: An Example from Goldwyer Formation Shale, Canning Basin, Western Australia

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Porosity and water saturation are the most critical and fundamental parameters for accurate estimation of gas content in the shale reservoirs. However, their determination is very challenging due to the direct influence of kerogen and clay content on the

A digital rock physics approach to effective and total porosity for complex carbonates: pore-typing and applications to electrical conductivity [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Recent advances in micro-CT techniques allow imaging heterogeneous carbonates at multiple scales and including voxel-wise registration of images at different resolution or in different saturation states. This enables characterising such carbonates at the

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Effects of Different Tillage Depths on Soil Physical Properties and the Growth and Yield of Tobacco in the Mountainous Chongqing Region of China

open access: yesAgriculture
Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is the most important cash crop in the mountainous Chongqing region, where mini rotary tillers are widely used for land preparation. The decline in tobacco yields has been partially attributed to deteriorating soil physical
