The technique of abdominal pressure in total colonoscopy
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 1991Total colonoscopy can be difficult. It is recognized that abdominal pressure can be helpful in the performance of colonoscopy by externally splinting the endoscope to prevent loop formation. Properly applied abdominal pressure can limit patient discomfort and shorten examination time.

A Regulator for Pressure-Controlled Total-Liquid Ventilation
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2010Total-liquid ventilation (TLV) is an innovative experimental method of mechanical-assisted ventilation in which lungs are totally filled and then ventilated with a tidal volume of perfluorochemical liquid by using a dedicated liquid ventilator. Such a novel medical device must resemble other conventional ventilators: it must be able to conduct ...

Totally Integrated Pressure Transducer
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1981<div class="htmlview paragraph">Until now, environmental and cost concerns have inhibited widespread application of piezoresistive pressure transducers in many applications. The monolithic silicon pressure sensor, unlike a conventional I C, must interface with the environment.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The circuit side of ...

Vacuum, 1987
Abstract A review is given of the various total pressure gauges which are available for use in the range from atmospheric pressure to about 10−13 mbar. The most significant developments and advances that have taken place in the last decade, in this area of vacuum technology, have been concerned with the capacitance manometer and spinning rotor gauges.

Venous Pressure and Total Peripheral Resistance in the Dog
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1958The techniques of total body perfusion have been applied to the problem of the influence of venous distension on resistance to blood flow. The results obtained support the classical view that a rise in venous pressure leads to a fall in total peripheral resistance. The possibility of a venivasomotor constrictor reflex occurring in certain parts of the

In Vivo Contact Pressures in Total Knee Arthroplasty
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2007This study compared the in vivo femoropolyethylene contact pressures generated in fixed-bearing total knee arthroplasty (TKAs) with those in mobile-bearing TKAs. In vivo kinematics obtained from a 2-dimensional to 3-dimensional registration technique and soft tissue locations derived from computed tomographic scans were entered into a 3-dimensional ...
