Increased pain sensitivity in low blood pressure. [PDF]
. There is broad evidence for a functional interaction between the cardiovascular and pain regulatory systems. One result of this interaction is the reduced sensitivity to acute pain in individuals with elevated blood pressure, which has been established

Regional and Total Site CO2 Integration Considering Purification and Pressure Drop
The application of Pinch Analysis (PA) targeting method has been recently explored to the design of CO2 emission reduction in Total Site planning of CO2 capture, utilisation and storage.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The equal pressure point is greater in men than women near total lung capacity
The equal pressure point (EPP) states that expiratory flow limitation occurs at the precise location along the tracheobronchial tree where intraluminal and peribronchial pressures are equal (i.e., where the local transmural pressure is 0 cmH2O).

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

PRESSURE PREDICTION AND UNDERBALANCED DRILLING IN THE DEEPWATER NIGER DELTA [PDF]
The mechanisms that cause overpressure can be broadly classified into two categories: loading and unloading. This study looks at eight wells from the deepwater Niger Delta; the wells were evaluated with three aims in mind. The first aim was to determine

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Blood pressure and its correlates in children and adolescents in urban Nigeria [PDF]
Background: A substantial increase in the incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and a decline in communicable diseases and poverty-related diseases are occurring in developing countries (including Nigeria) as a result of an ...

Ankle blood pressure as a predictor of total and cardiovascular mortality
Background The ankle blood pressure is commonly used as a ratio to the brachial blood pressure, called ankle-brachial index (ABI). Very few studies have considered the independent value of the ankle blood pressure without indexing it to the brachial ...
