The total protein content in the blood serum of vertebrates.
Acta zoologica et pathologica Antverpiensia, 1978The total protein content in the blood serum of 416 species and subspecies of vertebrates is determined by the microbiuret method. Generally speaking the total protein content of the serum shows an increase with a higher evolutionary level. The difference between the mammals and the other groups is particularly large.

The measurement of total serum proteins by the Biuret method.
Annals of clinical and laboratory science, 1978The biuret reaction for proteins provides a simple and precise method for measuring serum proteins; Beer's law is obeyed to at least 10 g per dl. Several stable biuret reagents are available. Hemoglobin is the only important cause of interference which cannot be minimized by use of a sample blank.
