Evaluation of serum levels of C-reactive protein after total knee arthroplasty

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the behavior of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the first three weeks after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and define the factors related to its variation.

Comparison of serum leptin, glucose, total cholesterol and total protein levels in fertile and repeat breeder cows

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2014
In the present study we measured serum glucose, leptin, total cholesterol and total protein concentrations in repeat breeder cows and compared them with fertile cows. For this aim, 20 repeat breeder cows and 20 fertile cows were used as material.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Role of first day levels and subsequent trends of serum proteins in acute burns

open access: yesJournal of Acute Disease, 2018
Objective: To explore the role of first day levels and subsequent trends of serum proteins as prognostic indicators in acute burns. Methods: This prospective observational study was carried on 100 burn patients (18-60 years with 20% to 60% total burned ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Evaluation of some serum biochemical parameters of humans exposed to burnt tire emissions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2018
Evaluation of some serum biochemical parameters of humans who were exposed to burnt tire emissions (singeing process) was carried out in this study. Eighty (80) healthy adult males were recruited for the study after their consents were sought.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Kinetic Determination of Total Serum Protein with a Centrifugal Analyzer

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1974
Abstract A kinetic biuret assay of total serum protein on the "CentrifiChem" centrifugal analyzer is shown to be rapid, accurate, and reasonably precise, and accommodates the most desirable analytical method and standardization currently available.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
