[Corection of pectus excavatum with total sternal turnover].
Khirurgiia, 2005A case of 23-year-old man with Pectus Excavatum (grade II) is reported on. The functional cardiorespiratory impairment was a leading symptom. The technique of sternal turnover with preservation of a vascular supply based on the internal mammary pedicle is introduced for the first time in Bulgaria. All procedure steps are described.

Turnover of total proteins and ornithine aminotransferase during liver regeneration in rats
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1980The recovery of approximately 40% of the total liver protein during the first day after partial hepatectomy was shown to be due to the near cessation of protein breakdown rather than to an increase in protein synthesis. The decrease in degradation of total protein was less if rats were adrenalectomized or protein-depleted prior to partial hepatectomy ...

When suspensions of Klebsiella aerogenes are incubated in a nitrogen-free medium there is a gradual decrease in the levels of acid-precipitable protein and of aspartokinase III (lysine-sensitive) and aspartokinase I (threonine-sensitive) activities. In contrast, the level of glutamine synthetase increases slightly and then remains constant. Under these

Total carbon turnover measured by feeding a uniformly labeled diet
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1961Abstract To quantitate total turnover, rats and mice were continuously fed diets uniformly labeled with carbon-14 and killed at intervals, and several organs, tissues, compounds, and fractions then were assayed for specific radioactivity. Expired carbon dioxide from rats on the diet was assayed over a 50-day interval.

Scheduling and Vendor Consistency Improves Turnover Time Efficiency in Total Joint Arthroplasty
The Journal of ArthroplastyMaximizing operative room (OR) efficiency is important for hospital efficiency, patient care, and positive surgeon and staff morale. Reducing turnover time (TOT) has become a popular focus to improve OR efficiency. The present study evaluated if TOT is influenced by changing case type, implant vendor, and/or laterality. In total, 444 turnovers from ...

Assessment of bone turnover in osteoporosis: harmonization of the total testing process
Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM), 2018Abstract An imbalance between bone formation and bone resorption is a factor in the development of osteoporosis. Bone turnover markers (BTM) are useful in assessing bone remodeling at the cellular level. Measurement of BTM is useful for assessing bone turnover and therefore fracture risk as well as for monitoring response to treatment ...

Isotope-based tracer methods allow the determination of total energy expenditure (TEE), water turnover (rH2O), and total body water (TBW) in free-living conditions. These methods have exciting applications in athletes. However, the limited number of available measurements constrains their applicability.
