Total variation diminishing schemes for pollutant transport in porous media
AbstractA bidimensional numerical model has been used in order to simulate the contaminant transport in the coastal groundwater area (Atlantic margin of the Rharb basin, Morocco). This groundwater is materialized by means of the salt contamination derived from several factors: evapotranspiration, lithological series formations, marine intrusion, and ...

Development of a Runge-Kutta Scheme with Total Variation Diminishing for Magnetogasdynamics
A four-stage modified Runge-Kutta scheme augmented with the Davis-Yee symmetric total variation diminishing model in a postprocessing stage has been developed to solve the three-dimensional magnetogasdynamic equations. The spatial discretization is performed using finite difference schemes.

An explicit second order accurate total variation diminishing scheme is presented. The scheme is applied on the scalar conservation law in 1D. A problem with a discontinuous initial condition is considered for numerical approximation and results are presented.

Variation diminishing-type properties for multivariate sampling Kantorovich operators [PDF]
In this paper we establish a variation-diminishing type estimate for the multivariate Kantorovich sampling operators with respect to the concept of multidimensional variation introduced by Tonelli.

Total-Variation-Diminishing Time Discretizations
SIAM Journal on Scientific and Statistical Computing, 1988For the approximate solution of hyperbolic conservation laws \(u_ t+\sum^{d}_{i=1}f_ i(u)_{x_ i}=0\) for \(u\in {\mathbb{R}}^ m\) and \(x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ d\) difference schemes with the property of diminishing the total variation are a successful tool. In the present paper the scalar, one-dimensional case is considered and discussed, only.

A total variation diminishing shock viscosity
Computational Mechanics, 1993Shock viscosities are used in explicit finite element calculations to eliminate the oscillations that occur behind wave fronts. A multidimensional shock viscosity based on the total variation diminishing (TVD) methods in computational fluid dynamics is presented.
