On the Race for More Stretchable and Tough Hydrogels

open access: yesGels, 2019
Hydrogels are tridimensional networks that are able to retain important amounts of water. These soft materials can be obtained through self-assembling processes involving either hydrophilic molecules or polymers, allowing the formation of the ...

The Effects of Prior Austenite Grain Refinement on Strength and Toughness of High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The effects of prior austenite grain (PAG) refinement on the mechanical properties of bainitic/martensitic steels not only come from itself, but also have more complex effects by affecting the substructure formed by coherent transformation. In this study,

Feasibility study of skin dosimetry with TLD sheets for measuring the effect of 3D printed bolus in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

Evaluation of the effect of metal stents on dose perturbation in the carbon beam irradiation field

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Propose Carbon ion therapy is indicated for cases in which stents have been inserted, such as bile ducts, but the effect of metal stents on carbon ion therapy is unclear. In this study, the dose perturbation of carbon ion therapy caused by metallic bile duct stents was evaluated by dosimetry. Materials and methods Five different types of metal

Tight toughness, isolated toughness and binding number bounds for the $\{K_2,C_n\}$-factors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The $\{K_2,C_n\}$-factor of a graph is a spanning subgraph whose each component is either $K_2$ or $C_n$. In this paper, a sufficient condition with regard to tight toughness, isolated toughness and binding number bounds to guarantee the existence of the $\{K_2,C_{2i+1}| i\geq 2 \}$-factor for any graph is obtained, which answers a problem due to Gao ...

Dosimetric effect of silicone‐based gel on skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy for breast cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to quantify and compare the dosimetric effects of varying thicknesses of StrataXRT, a silicone‐based gel, and other topical agents on the skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for breast cancer.

Evolution of Sensory Properties of Beef during Long Dry Ageing

open access: yesFoods, 2022
Ageing is an essential step in obtaining meat with satisfactory sensory properties. Dry-ageing, although being a niche practice, is increasingly being developed to enhance the taste experience of meat consumers.
