Bioinspired, Mitochondria‐Targeted Single‐Atom Nanozyme Enhances Bone Regeneration by Reprogramming Stem Cell Energy Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
A bioinspired nanozyme—triphenylphosphonium (TPP)‐dendritic mesoporous silica nanoparticle (DMSN)‐Fe/Cu—mimics mitochondrial complex IV and targets mitochondria to regulate cellular energy metabolism. This approach markedly boosts bone regeneration in vivo, as demonstrated by enhanced bone volume and mineral density in critical‐sized bone defects rat ...

Nature‐Inspired Surface Modification Strategy Reverses the Autophagic Flux Impairment of Mitochondrial Transplantation for Attenuating Ischemic Strokes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
The functionalized starch modifies the mitochondrial surface and encapsulates resveratrol into the cavity of helices, facilitating a novel mitochondrial transplantation platform (MLSR). Upon internalization in recipient cells, MLSR triggers mitophagy and maintains positive autophagic flux through RIP1/RIP3 pathway inhibition.

Metabolomic ageing (MileAge) in mid‐life predicts incident vascular, unspecified and all‐cause dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Identifying individuals at risk of dementia is essential for prevention and targeted disease‐modifying strategies. We investigated whether mid‐life metabolomic ageing is associated with incident dementia and its age of onset and assessed joint associations and interactions with APOE genotype and dementia polygenic scores.

Translating Biomedical Research to Medical Devices: A Practical Guide and the Arteriovenous Graft Case Study

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
Despite significant advances, most academic research fails to result in medical products that benefit patients. This guide shares five key steps to help researchers close that gap: set clear goals, test thoroughly, protect ideas, build diverse teams, and partner with industry.

Integrated Assessment of Lipid Oxidation and Off‐Flavor Formation in Plant Protein Powders

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, Volume 103, Issue 5, Page 371-386, May 2026.
Impact of residual lipids on oxylipin and off‐flavor formation in commercial plant proteins: A detailed analysis of precursor‐product relationships by GC‐FID, LC‐MS/MS, and GC‐MS. ABSTRACT The widespread adoption of plant proteins is hindered by their inherent off‐flavors, often linked to lipid oxidation products.
