Trabecular meshwork and elastin

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1996
Evidence that elastic fibers with elastin exists in the trabecular meshwork (TM) and play an important role in aqueous outflow resistance is presented. The elastic fibers consist of abundant microfibrillar components containing glycoproteins and amorphous components containing elastin.

Trabecular Repopulation by Anterior Trabecular Meshwork Cells After Laser Trabeculoplasty

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1989
To study further the transient increase in trabecular cell division within the first two days after laser trabeculoplasty in human corneoscleral explant organ cultures, we used a pulse-chase protocol in which immediately after laser treatment 3H-thymidine was added to the culture medium for 48 hours (the pulse period).

R′2 measured in trabecular bone in vitro: relationship to trabecular separation

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1999
Measurement of key parameters of the microstructure of trabecular bone is critical to the study of osteoporosis and bone strength. Density based methods cannot provide this information, and give only the total amount of bone present, and not its arrangement.

Trabecular or Merkelʼs Cell Carcinoma

Southern Medical Journal, 1990
Two cases of trabecular cell carcinoma of the skin are presented. The clinical presentation and behavior, and the histologic findings, of the tumor are described. Surgical excision of the primary lesion with regional lymph node dissection, if indicated, is the treatment of choice. Distant metastasis is treated by local irradiation.

Rings and Nodules on Trabecular Fibers

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963
Peculiar nodular and ring-shaped thickenings of uveal trabecular fibers in a normal human eye (Figs. 4 and 5) were described in 1960 (Wolter 1 ). These nodules and rings were at that time thought to be the result of a release of tension that is normally exerted on the elastic trabeculum by the ciliary muscle. The uveal trabecular fibers are known to be

Trabecular Eccentricity and Bone Adaptation

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2001
It is well established that bones functionally adapt by mechanisms that control tissue density, whole bone geometry, and trabecular orientation. In this study, we propose the existence of another such powerful mechanism, namely, trabecular eccentricity, i.e. non-central placement of trabecular bone within a cortical envelope. In the human femoral neck,

Trabecular osteopenia in Codes' fracture

Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1986
Bone density was measured in 23 postmenopausal women with Colles' fracture. Trabecular spine density was measured by quantitative computed tomography. The bone mineral density in the distal radius and in the diaphysis of the radius and ulna was measured by the gamma ray attenuation method.

PRIMARY TRABECULAR CARCINOID OF THE OVARY

OBSTETRICAL & GYNECOLOGICAL SURVEY, 1977
Eighteen cases of primary trabecular carcinoid of the ovary were analyzed from a clinicopathologic viewpoint. The patients ranged in age from 24 to 74 years and presented with symptoms of an ovarian mass; none had the carcinoid syndrome. Although the carcinoid always proved to be unilateral, the contralateral ovary was sometimes enlarged by a dermoid ...

Trabecular Microfractures

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1989
The nature and distribution of healing trabecular microfractures (TMF) of femoral heads were studied in 50 autopsy specimens, 30 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip and 45 patients with subcapital fractures of the femoral neck (SFFN). Macerated coronal slices were examined with a dissecting microscope, and the TMFs were identified where there ...
