Update on trabecular bone score
Trabecular bone score (TBS) is an indirect and noninvasive measure of bone quality. A low TBS indicates degraded bone microarchitecture, predicts osteoporotic fracture, and is partially independent of clinical risk factors and bone mineral density (BMD).

Trabecular bone score in rheumatic disease
Patients with rheumatic diseases (RD) are at high risk of osteoporosis (OP) and osteoporotic fractures. The Trabecular bone score (TBS) is a relatively novel method of assessing bone quality, which independently predicts fracture risk regardless of bone ...

Trabecular bone score and sclerostin concentrations in patients with primary adrenal insufficiency
BackgroundPatients with primary adrenal insufficiency need lifelong replacement therapy with glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, which may influence their bone quality.AimThe aim of the study was to evaluate densitometry parameters, trabecular bone ...

Romosozumab improves microarchitecture as assessed by tissue thickness-adjusted trabecular bone score in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. [PDF]
Bone mineral density (BMD) is only one of several bone strength determinants affected by osteoporosis therapies. Trabecular Bone Score (TBS), a gray-level texture index determined from lumbar spine (LS) dual-X-ray absorptiometry scans, is an indirect ...

Trabecular bone score in the assessment of bone health in thalassemia major [PDF]
IntroductionThalassemia major (TM) has a significant impact on patients’ quality of life. Osteoporosis and osteopenia are common and important complications, yet they are often underestimated. Their etiology is multifactorial, culminating in reduced bone

Utility of REMS-Derived Fragility Score and Trabecular Bone Score in Evaluating Bone Health in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus [PDF]
Background/Objectives: A significantly higher fracture risk characterizes Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients when compared to the non-diabetic population, even though their average bone mineral density (BMD) tends to be normal or high.

Association of trabecular bone score corrected for tissue thickness with glucose metabolism in acromegaly [PDF]
IntroductionAcromegaly is associated with increased vertebral fracture (VF) risk regardless of bone mineral density (BMD). However, the vertebral trabecular compartment is still low; a possible contributor to this may be impaired glucose metabolism (GM ...

Bone Metabolism in Patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Case-control Study
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the hair follicles. The aim of this case-control study was to assess whether HS is associated with disturbances in trabecular bone score, bone mineral density, bone remodelling markers ...

Summary This study aimed to better define the role of heel-QUS in fracture prediction. Our results showed that heel-QUS predicts fracture independently of FRAX, BMD, and TBS.
