Junctions between the cells of the trabecular meshwork

Albrecht von Graefes Archiv fr Klinische und Experimentelle Ophthalmologie, 1974
In an electron-microscopic study of cell-to-cell attachments in the trabecular meshwork of three primate species and the rabbit, two types of junctions were identified. These junctions were common to all four species. One was classified as a macula adhaerens while the other, after uranyl acetate “en bloc” treatment of the tissue, was thought to be a ...

Does Pigmentation Affect the Trabecular Meshwork?

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1989
Pigment has been associated with glaucoma in pigment dispersion syndrome and in intraocular lens-associated pigment dispersion. Human eyes with segmental pigmentation of the trabecular meshwork may provide a controlled model to study the effects of pigment on the meshwork.

Human Trabecular Meshwork Cells

1985
In man, most of the aqueous humor drainage and the major resistance to outflow occur across the trabecular meshwork and inner wall of Schlemm’s canal. Pros-taglandins are known to alter intraocular presure (IOP) and have been implicated in both physiological and pathophysiological aspects of IOP regulation.

Trabecular Meshwork and Uveoscleral Outflow Models

Journal of Glaucoma, 2005
To describe current laboratory models used to study aqueous outflow. Because development of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is rare in animals, no animal model of POAG is available for laboratory study on the pathogenesis of this condition. This review will discuss the alternative models used in the laboratory to study aqueous outflow. This is a ...

Experimental Studies on the Trabecular Meshwork in Primates

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963
There is a considerable amount of information about the normal structure of the trabecular meshwork.* However, little is known about its pathological reactions.2,12,39,40This paper is an attempt to study the morphological behavior of chamber angle tissue under 3 different conditions: (1) after perfusion of the anterior chamber with various solutions ...

Facility of Flow Through the Trabecular Meshwork

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1955
This report presents one further detail in the investigation of factors which are responsible for the resistance to outflow of aqueous humor from the eye. One portion of this study which has already been reported was concerned with tonographic determination of facility and rate of outflow of aqueous humor in patients *; another portion has been ...
