Précis: Trabeculotomy (T) alone is as safe and effective as combined trabeculotomy-trabeculectomy (TT) in patients with primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) and requires significantly fewer examinations under anesthesia in the postoperative period.

SUMMARY Goniotomy is a safe effective procedure in isolated trabeculodysgenesis occurring in children under the age of two years, and is preferred by the authors in all such cases when visibility allows. It may also be effective for varying periods of time in Sturge- Weber syndrome, Aniridia, Axenfeld's syndrome, and Lowe's syndrome when ...

Trabeculotomy in congenital glaucoma
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2000Congenital glaucoma is a potentially blinding disease that requires surgical therapy. This paper describes the outcome of trabeculotomy in primary congenital glaucoma.Thirty-nine eyes of 22 children with congenital glaucoma who underwent trabeculotomy with or without a simultaneous trabeculectomy between 1992 and 1997 were retrospectively analyzed.Mean

'Valve Trabeculotomy' in Glaucoma
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984The surgical technique of "valve trabeculotomy" includes preparing the superficial and the inner limboscleral flaps while the midscleral lamina is excised. The operation was performed on 100 glaucomatous eyes of 82 patients. Postoperative complications included hyphema in 11 cases, mild iridocyclitis in four eyes, and choroidal detachment in six cases.

Retrograde air injection into an episcleral aqueous vein of ten rhesus monkey eyes resulted in multiple microscopic ruptures in the inner canal wall and trabecular meshwork, without trabecular detachment or damage to the other canal walls and the surrounding tissues. After air trabeculotomy, a 41% decrease in outflow resistance was observed.
