Trabzon ili, ülkemizin heyelanlardan en çok etkilenen şehirlerinin başında gelir. İl genelinde birçok bölge şiddetli yağışlara karşı dirençsizlik göstererek heyelanlara maruz kalmaktadır. Yağışlar nedeniyle sürekli olarak değişen yer altı su seviyesi heyelanları tetikleyerek toprak kütlelerinin dengesini bozmaktadır.
