The additivity of traces in stable $\infty$-categories
We prove a version of J.P. May's theorem on the additivity of traces, in symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-categories. Our proof proceeds via a categorification, namely we use the additivity of topological Hochschild homology as an invariant of stable $\infty$-categories and construct a morphism of spectra $\mathrm{THH}(\mathbf C)\to \mathrm{End ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Selected Trace Elements in Egyptian Females with Preeclampsia [PDF]
Background: Evidence exist indicating that, trace elements could play a role in preeclampsia (PE). However, controversy exist regarding the role of the value of trace elements supplementation on the pregnancy outcome.

Boolean Algebras from Trace Automata [PDF]
We consider trace automata. Their vertices are Mazurkiewicz traces and they accept finite words. Considering the length of a trace as the length of its Foata normal form, we define the operations of level-length synchronization and of superposition of ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Enhancing the Strength and Toughness of A356.2-0.15Fe Aluminum Alloy by Trace Mn and Mg Co-Addition
In the present work, microalloying is put forward to improve the microstructure and tensile properties of A356.2-0.15Fe (wt.%) alloy by the co-addition of trace Mn and Mg. A suitable Mn/Fe mass ratio of 0.5 is obtained for alloys with 0.15Fe.

On the Trace Anomaly and the Anomaly Puzzle in N=1 Pure Yang-Mills
The trace anomaly of the energy-momentum tensor is usually quoted in the form which is proportional to the beta function of the theory. However, there are in general many definitions of gauge couplings depending on renormalization schemes, and hence many

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...
