Application of tritium (3H) as a tracer in seepage studies through hydraulic structures
Water plays a pivotal role in various agricultural and industrial activities through the construction of hydraulic structures like dams, canals or hydroelectric power station.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

1,2-3H-Cholesterol as a tracer in studies of human cholesterol metabolism
1,2-3H-Cholesterol was fed to a subject together with 4-14C-cholesterol at a known 3H/14C ratio. The ratio was satisfactorily preserved in cholesterol recovered from plasma, red cells, and bile, and in bile acids of bile.Isotopic fractionation was seen ...

Lactate: brain fuel in human traumatic brain injury: a comparison with normal healthy control subjects. [PDF]
We evaluated the hypothesis that lactate shuttling helps support the nutritive needs of injured brains. To that end, we utilized dual isotope tracer [6,6-(2)H2]glucose, that is, D2-glucose, and [3-(13)C]lactate techniques involving arm vein tracer ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Application of an Instrumented Tracer in an Abrasion Mill for Rock Abrasion Studies [PDF]
One of research fields in studying dynamics of gravel-bed rivers is the interaction between sediment particles in motion and incision rates in rock-bottom river reaches.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Dynamical fluctuations of a tracer coupled to active and passive particles
We study the induced dynamics of an inertial tracer particle elastically coupled to passive or active Brownian particles. We integrate out the environment degrees of freedom to obtain the exact effective equation of the tracer—a generalized Langevin ...
