Etymology and entomology: The semiotics and ethics of multispecies gene nomenclatures

open access: yesJournal of Linguistic Anthropology, Volume 36, Issue 2, August 2026.
Abstract This article examines controversies surrounding gene names that are perceived as humorous in the context of fruit flies but are considered rude in the clinical context of human medicine. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in insect laboratories, interviews with entomologists and geneticists, and an analysis of scientific and clinical ...

Effects of air on the dosimetric robustness of treatment plans for prostate cancer in the presence of intrafractional, anatomical changes during online adaptive radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Background In the online adaptive platform, a linear Boltzmann‐transport‐equation‐solver (LBTE) as calculation algorithm is implemented for dose optimization. This class‐C‐optimizer is known to counteract the dose decrease at boundaries of small fields due to electronic disequilibrium by increasing the fluence to achieve the goals of dose ...

Successful Management of Total Intravenous Anesthesia Using Remimazolam, Dexmedetomidine, and Remifentanil for Airway Stenting Under Rigid Bronchoscopy: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Using intravenous general anesthesia with remimazolam and remifentanil, we successfully performed airway stent placement for cancer‐related airway stenosis without causing hypoxia. ABSTRACT During airway stenting for airway stenosis under rigid bronchoscopy, preservation of spontaneous breathing is desirable.

USP43‐mediated deubiquitination of SLC7A11 protects against LPS‐induced acute lung injury by inhibiting ferroptosis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Ubiquitin‐specific protease 43 (USP43) in up‐regulated during lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced acute lung injury (ALI). USP43 interacts and inhibits the degradation of solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) by removing the K48‐linked ubiquitination of it, thereby suppressing ferroptosis.
