Elderly patients with preoperative hypoalbuminemia (< 40 g/L) undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass were randomized to receive 100 mL of 20% albumin or saline before surgery. Albumin infusion reduced the severity and incidence of PPCs and modulated immune balance.

We present the case of a 67‐year‐old man with papillary thyroid carcinoma who developed a tracheocutaneous fistula following proton beam therapy and chemotherapy for metastatic disease. Airway repair and recanalization were successfully achieved through a combined surgical and bronchoscopic approach.

We report a rare middle mediastinal malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour. Preoperative imaging showed contact with vital structures, raising concern for resectability. However, complete resection was achieved using a transmanubrial osteomuscular sparing approach.
