Sensory and microbiological assessment of irradiated bluejack mackerel (Trachurus picturatus)
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1994AbstractBluejack mackerel caught off the Portuguese coast were irradiated with pasteurising doses of 1, 2 and 3 kGy using a 60Co gamma source; they were compared with a non‐irradiated control sample for external appearance in the raw fish and for texture, flavour, odour, humidity and colour in the cooked muscle, by a group of experienced panellists ...

Abstract Fish egg identification is relevant for a variety of ecological studies including the application of egg production methodologies to estimate population abundance. The Daily Egg Production Method (DEPM) has been applied triennially, since 2007, for horse mackerel ( Trachurus trachurus ) in Iberian waters.

DETERIORATIVE CHANGES DURING ICE STORAGE OF IRRADIATED BLUE JACK MACKEREL (TRACHURUS PICTURATUS)
Journal of Food Biochemistry, 2000Changes in the content of histamine (Him), tyramine (Tyr), agmatine (Agm), spermidine (Spd), putrescine (Put), cadaverine (Cad) and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) were examined during the ice storage of blue jack mackerel irradiated at diferent levels (0, I, 2 and 3 kGy).

Abstract Sensory, physicochemical and microbiological analyses were carried out on Mediterranean horse mackerel and blue jack mackerel in order to determine quality changes during storage in ice. Sensory results indicated that whole Mediterranean horse mackerel and blue jack mackerel used in this trial had a shelf-life of 10 and 7 days, respectively.
