Evaluation of embolic deflection devices using optical particle tracking [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2013
Trans-aortic valve replacement is a new endovascular procedure which has started to be used routinely in cardiac interventional suites. During such procedures a stent-like device containing new aortic valves is placed over the damaged ones, possibly causing calcifications to be dislodged and released in arteries leading to stroke.

Finite Element Analysis and Reinforcement of Steel Crane Beam under Eccentric Track Loading

open access: yesMachines, 2022
The crane track of a steel structure workshop was installed eccentrically, and the crane operation caused a large deflection of the crane beam, requiring reinforcement measures.

Poleward Deflection of Storm Tracks [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1998
An analysis of 11 years of European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts data focuses primarily on the vertically averaged high-frequency transients. The conclusions are discussed in the context of (a) the winter storm track, (b) monthly variability, and (c) interannual variability.

On Typhoon Track Deflections near the East Coast of Taiwan [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Weather Review, 2018
Typhoons with “deflection tracks” (DTs) within a 200-km distance of the mountainous island of Taiwan are examined. We analyze 84 landfalling typhoons that compose 49 DT cases turning to the left-hand side, including 18 with very large deflection angles (DA > 20°) and another 7 having looped tracks (LTs).

Evaluating the Service Performance of Heavy Axle Load Ballasted Railway by Using Numerical Simulation Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
To evaluate the service performance of the track substructure of heavy axle load (HAL) railway transportation, an inverse analysis was performed to estimate the resilient modulus values of the track substructure, based on the deflection data obtained ...
