We show that testing whether a given graph has a 3-track layout is hard, by characterizing the bipartite 3-track graphs in terms of leveled planarity. Additionally, we investigate the parameterized complexity of track layouts, showing that past methods used for book layouts do not work to parameterize the problem by treewidth or almost-tree number but ...

(d+1,2) -Track Layout of Bipartite Graph Subdivisions
IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2008A (k,2-track layout of a graph G consists of a 2-track assignment of G and an edge k-coloring of G with no monochromatic X-crossing. This paper studies the problem of (k,2)-track layout of bipartite graph subdivisions. Recently V.Dujmovic and D.R.Wood showed that for every integer d > 2, every graph G with n vertices has a (d+1,2)-track layout of a ...

Lumped Track Layout Design for Dynamic Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicles
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2016Dynamic wireless charging (DWC) of electric vehicles (EVs) is an emerging technology that could lead to the breakthrough of EVs. The technology is based on the inductive coupling between an electrified track deployed under the road surface and a pickup coil fitted in EV.

Track layout design using modified genetic algorithm
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008Track or road layout in a given geographical area to plan new or improve existing public and/or private transportation systems is a complex problem. Especially today, many parameters have to be considered, and some of them are not obvious. For example, in face of an imminent energy crisis, the energy consumption of a transportation system should be ...

Layout aware visual tracking and mapping
2015 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2015Nowadays real time visual Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) algorithms exist and rely on consistent measurements across multiple views. In indoor environments, where majority of robot's activity takes place, severe occlusions can occur, e.g., when turning around a corner or moving from one room to another.

Young Brian Snavely has a train set with many kinds of track: straight pieces, curves, bridges, tunnels, X-pieces (to make figure-8s), and switches. Brian likes them all, but it was the switches that led us to an interesting mathematical problem. Switches are the structures that allow Engineer Brian to choose between two (or more) paths to guide the ...

Technology tracking of non manhattan VLSI layout
Proceedings of the 1989 26th ACM/IEEE conference on Design automation conference - DAC '89, 1989Improvements in IC technologies make existing layout libraries obsolete. In order to reuse these layouts, adaptation to the requirements of new technologies have to take place. In this paper a system is presented that automatizes this task using a locally two dimensional compaction algorithm.

Track assignment in the Pathway datapath layout assembler
1991 IEEE International Conference on Computer-Aided Design Digest of Technical Papers, 2002The authors present a novel dynamic programming algorithm for optimizing the assignment of signals to metal2 tracks, in datapaths. The algorithm is part of the Pathway datapath layout assembler, which was used in the design of the NS32SF641 microprocessor.
