CONCRETE PROPERTIES IMPROVEMENT OF SLAB TRACKS USING CHEMICAL ADDITIVES

open access: yesScience and Transport Progress, 2015
Purpose. On the Railways of Ukraine a very large number of slab tracks are operated with cracks. Many scientific works of previous years are dedicated to improving the design of slab tracks. The main causes of defects are: poor exploitation of the track; insufficient physic-mechanical characteristics of concrete; poor quality of initial materials.

Efficient First‐Principles Inverse Design of Nanolasers

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This article introduces a first‐principles inverse‐design framework for nanolasers that directly incorporates nonlinear lasing physics. By unifying steady‐state ab‐initio laser theory (SALT) with topology optimization, it reveals how spatial hole burning, gain saturation, and cavity‐emitter coupling shape laser performance, enabling efficient discovery

Controlling Collective Quasiparticle Dynamics Beyond Decoherence in Topological Interfaces

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Gold nanoparticles placed above a deformed honeycomb plasmonic crystal couple to a chiral topological interface mode. The pseudospin‐split bands ψ+/ ψ− encode spin‐momentum locking, so emitters radiate directionally along the domain wall and share a common phase.

Experimental study on the dynamic characteristics of slab track structure considering local defects and temperature gradient

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
The unit slab track structure has been widely used in high-speed railways. Temperature gradients and local defects alter the interlayer condition of slab tracks, directly affecting the structure's dynamic performance.

Autonomy for MRI Field Cameras: Synchronization, Self‐Calibration, and Sequence Detection

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose This work aims to provide a workflow for operating NMR field probes in MR scanners independently of pulse programming, scanner TTL trigger pulses and dedicated calibration sequences. Methods An independent timing system and limited prior knowledge about relative probe positions enable synchronous field measurement, probe position ...

Advancing Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping With 2.5D Diffusion Models for Rapid Intracranial Hemorrhage Quantification

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a generative diffusion model‐based approach for robust and efficient quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) reconstruction in intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), applicable to both standard gradient echo (GRE) and rapid echo planar imaging (EPI) acquisitions.

Harvesting of two alpine Artemisia: Effects of an amateur practice on wild plant dynamics

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Wild plants are consumed all over the world, and knowledge of the effects of harvesting is necessary to ensure the sustainability of this activity. Our 3‐year study of two closely related alpine Artemisia species in the Southern Alps revealed a positive impact of harvesting at the plant scale and on the short term.

Stiffness and Vibration Reduction Performance of Double-block Floating Slab Track Vibration Isolators

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] To address the shortcomings currently present in high-performance and special vibration-reducing floating slab track systems, such as poor accuracy in maintaining the rail bottom gradient and insufficient construction precision, the CRTS ...

Enabling Under Ice Glider Operations: A Backseat Driver Approach

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polar Oceans are key locations for forcing global ocean circulation, influencing both global climate and biogeochemical cycles. Due to restricted access to these seasonally and perennially ice‐covered regions, these areas are severely undersampled.

The Hidden Costs of Coffee Production in the Eastern African Value Chains

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is increasing recognition that significant hidden costs associated with agrifood systems are not reflected in market prices. Coffee is among the three most traded agricultural commodities in the world and supports the livelihoods of more than 30 million smallholder households.
