Differences in mycelial turnover and persistence of wood‐decay fungi at the microscale
Summary How long do fungal hyphae persist in the environment? And how does this differ between groups and species of fungi? Despite growing knowledge of fungal contributions to decomposition and soil carbon cycles, surprisingly little is known about the turnover of mycelia: What happens to fungal hyphae over time? And how this impacts different fungi's

Giant Porphyry Copper Deposits Caused by a Slab Jamming in the Mantle Transition Zone
ABSTRACT Two giant porphyry copper deposits in the Southern Central Andes formed during the Miocene–Pliocene transition when a bend in the subducting Juan de Fernández hotspot chain jammed in the mantle transition zone, causing mega‐scale slab‐kinking. This geometry implies mechanical resistance that caused East–West compression and eventually a thrust‐

Abstract The Calabrian Arc subduction system (Central Mediterranean) is characterized by a deep and narrow (200 km) slab. Addressing the poorly understood link between shallow and deep mantle structures, we present the first high‐resolution mapping of crustal and upper mantle discontinuities across the Calabrian Arc and Southern Tyrrhenian basin.

Differential Craton Destruction Controlled by Fossil Structures in the Central North China Craton
Abstract Craton evolution plays a fundamental role in stabilizing the continental lithosphere and the long‐term evolution of Earth's surface environment. The Shanxi Rift Zone (SRZ) within the North China Craton marks an ongoing craton destruction. Detailed lithospheric structure is essential to explain craton destruction.

Splay Fault Permeability Governs Fluid–Structure Interaction in Accretionary Wedges
Abstract Interactions between upper plate deformation and plate interface seismicity in subduction zones remain poorly understood, but growing evidence indicates that fluid flow along splay faults modulates upper‐plate faulting. Field observations from two exhumed splay faults define end‐member scenarios where impermeable faults trap fluids in their ...
