Combinational-Logic-Based Traction Inverter Fault Diagnosis

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015
This paper presents a combinational-logic-based approach for identifying faults that could occur in power electronic components of an electric vehicle inverter. A real-time simulation model of an electric vehicle is used to study the behavior of available sensor signals and control commands, with specific measured quantities, during vehicle operation ...

Inverter-Fed Asynchronous Motors for Traction Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1977
Publisher Summary Variable-frequency inverter-fed asynchronous motor constitutes, in the field of electric traction, an effective option to traditional d.c. motor. The success of this equipment is connected to the advantages the squirrel cage asynchronous motor may provide lower weight and small dimensions, higher power at high speed, less ...

Traction inverters in hybrid electric vehicles

2012 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (ITEC), 2012
Traction inverters are of critical importance in the propulsion systems of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). This paper focuses on major design aspects of HEV traction inverters comparing different types of the existing inverter topologies, reviewing the power specifications in commercialized hybrid electric vehicles, and discussing the advanced power ...

GTO Inverter for AC Traction Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1983
A 600-kVA capacity GTO inverter for traction drives has been developed using 2500-V/1000-A gate turn-off (GTO) thyristors, and running tests have been carried out. To utilize the advantages of GTO thyristors, circuit inductance of both main loops and snubber loops were minimized in order to decrease overvoltage applied to GTO thyristors after turn-off.

Inverted Nipple Correction with Dermal Flaps and Traction

Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2014
Inverted nipple occurs when part of or the entire nipple is abnormally located below the areola. Surgical repair of severe cases involves suture or flap techniques. Complications include recurrence, lactation problems, hypopigmented scar formation in the areola, and loss of sensation.

Cascaded multilevel inverter for underground traction drives

2012 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES), 2012
The elementary concept of a multilevel converter to achieve medium and high voltage by using a series of power semiconductor switches with several lower voltage DC sources. A suitable modulation technique is required to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage waveform to reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the multi ...

An Inverter for Traction Applications

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1972
An inverter configuration with an auxiliary shutoff circuit designed for traction applications is described. The auxiliary shutoff energy adds to the main shutoff energy providing the necessary shutoff capability at stall and low motor speeds where maximum traction is required.

Smart inverter drive for traction

1998 International Conference on Power Electronic Drives and Energy Systems for Industrial Growth, 1998. Proceedings., 2005
Two advantages of having electric drives in road vehicles are that there is a reduction in the number of mechanical parts and an increase in environmentally-friendly operating conditions. In addition, electric vehicles are not only used for engine-driven acceleration but also for generator-driven deceleration which thus achieves a high degree of total ...

An Adjustable-Traction Technique for Correction of Inverted Nipples

Annals of Plastic Surgery, 2016
Inverted nipples are a common problem in female patients. This deformity impairs the function and appearance of the breast and may cause psychological distress. Existing correctional techniques may result in nipple necrosis, recurrence, infection, and scarring.
